Dave,

It appears that the analysis in your recent posts is focused upon a backwards look at what has been, rather than looking forward.

On Friday, Lou Rukeyser recommended a front windshield for those analysts that have only shown the ability to use their rear view mirrors. Perhaps, a similar Xmas present might be fitting for you.

In the potato analysis, consider how many cycles of buying ever better machines might continue to be profitable if potato consumption rates grow by 80% annually while machines make it 24% cheaper to produce the potatoes annually.

Very few companies are philanthropic enterprises. If you're unable to understand how they believe they're going to be profitable, that just means that you don't understand the business model. It doesn't mean that the management, their bankers, the market and the rest of the world is incapable of seeing the wisdom of your ways.

and on that note, do have a merry Christmas. :-)

Ian
