| | | Metacomet, admit why you are concerned, at least to yourself I'm concerned because I'm a human being who cares about race relations in this country.
I'm concerned because I believe I'm in a unique position to bridge the gap between blacks, whites, Hispanics, Asians, and other races.
I'm concerned because I see fake solutions being pushed by white people because the only thing that matters to them is their white guilt.
I'm concerned because hard work, family values, and strong cultural communities are being deprioritized and downplayed, and so-called "white privilege" is being raised as the source of these problems. This line of thinking is also being reflected among Asian liberals in the media, who are saying that Asians enjoy a sense of "Asian privilege" that has nothing to do with traditional values and traditional formulae for success.
I'm concerned because I have friends, coworkers, and even church pastors who are black, well-educated, and pretty damn successful, but who will continue to be targets of discrimination because we cannot avoid the truth.
But mostly I'm concerned because I'm a member of a racial minority who has a vested interest in making sure the multiculturalism of this nation remains a positive trait instead of something that we should wring our hands over or take advantage of with cheap political nonsense.
So go ahead and continue throwing your virtual milk bones at me. It just proves to me that the only one showing "fake concern" is you.
