Dear Mr. Bastiaens:

Please advise status of the Alpha Software-Kurzweil alliance pursuant to
your acquisition of Kurzweil, specifically:

1. Will L&H enter into/maintain the terms and conditions of said
alliance? Is their a termination clause pending wherein L&H will be
phasing out Softquad/Alpha's involvement with retail distribution of
Kurzweil/L&H product(s)?

2. Will L&H provide/offer all future related products to SOftquad for
retail distribution, including, but not limited to L&H's pending launch
of continuous speech/voice rec product(s) scheduled for late 1997
delivery?

acquisitions and alliances.
