8/14/15 Contest update Now that there’s a U.S. embassy in Cuba, it can’t be long before they open the Havana Stock Exchange. And, given my collapsing capitalist U.S. biotechs, I’m all in when Fidel Pharmaceuticals starts trading. Meanwhile, as biotechs sold-off for another week, at Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 28.26% YTD (vs. up 31.78% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 20.00% YTD (vs. up 21.49% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index was up 22.84% YTD (vs. up 27.35% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 6.59% YTD (vs. up 6.49% YTD a week ago). DANIEL’S portfolio, up 85.95% YTD bucked the biotech down trend and took the Contest lead. MOPGCW’s portfolio, up 70.14% YTD, moved into second place and DON’S portfolio, up 64.91% YTD, slipped to third place. At the week’s close, 45 of the 51 Contest portfolios were in the black with 32 beating the NBI and 30 beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 18.13% and a median YTD gain of 3.68%. Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the week’s Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks. (Foreign stock prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.) Portfolio adjustments: None (All corrections, especially adjustments for buyouts & splits, greatly appreciated.) Have a relaxing weekend biotechies! Peace & good health, Bulba
