So I followed Breccia's link and downloaded W10 directly for my desktop. I followed the simple instructions as they appeared and let it go. That was a little over 6-1/2 hours ago. The screen has been black for at least the last 4 hours and the red light on the box flickers and shows lots of activity. The mouse is totally off line, nothing causes the screen to blink.

Is this normal? I think I saw somewhere recently that one of the posters took about 4 hours for his upgrade to complete. I may have misread that. At any rate, if this doesn't show signs of life in about another hour, I'm going to let it run and go to bed. Is that wise? Realizing it's already late at night, this may not be seen until tomorrow morning, so I'll be chancing it.

I'll check back here (laptop) before hitting the sack. Thanks for suggestions.....
