Excuse me for butting in, but in reading thru the thread the MSFT supporters have made the case (correctly, I think) that the judge isn't clear about whether he wants IE disabled or completely taken out. What I don't understand is why they think this is a good thing...

In my opinion, MSFT can't win this case ... it's just a question of how badly they lose and their current strategy puts them on the road to maximum damage. The issue is tying. There's no doubt they're doing it and we all know why. So like Cheryl said the minimum damage they could sustain is if they're forced to offer an OS with IE disabled. What they seem intent on pushing the court to do is to get real mad and make them take IE completely out of the OS ... there must be some deep strategy here that I don't understand ... maybe they just don't like the sound of Win 98 ... the marketing guys figure Win 00 sounds way cooler????
