IF you are getting a blue screen it should have the word "STOP" followed by some numbers. The first of those numbers will identify the broad category of problem. You need to google it. The four numbers that follow it will explain the specific memory address and hence, the offending software.

First thing to check it whether the computer needs dirt cleaned out of the cooling fan on the chip. If the CPU overheats, particularly on older computers, it will almost always end in a blue screen. If you have crap in the heat sink (cooling fins) on the processor you have to get it out.
