Shaved skin is commonly used for grafts where it can survive.

I had an uncle who suffered a deep burn on the palm of his hand. Skin from his forearm was grafted to promote healing. It continued to grow there for the rest of his life (although he constantly had to endure jokes about why he had hair growing on his palm).

At any rate, I have not seen much protest against skin grafts even from Christian Science members.
