IMHO the DOJ's position is the one consistent with free trade. One must ask the question, "free trade for whom?" If the answer is anything other than "Microsoft only," then action like the DOJ's is necessary to ensure the freedom of _others_ to trade. Remember, it is Microsoft's heavy-handedness in excluding others from the market that is at issue. A "free" market is not the one where the bully can have anything he wants. e.g., Compaq has to be free to trade with Netscape, whether Microsoft likes it or not. JMHO. Not a legal opinion or investment advice.
