Christine: Thanks for the reply and the welcome. RE: constitution, of course I did use examples to support my thesis, and your arguments are also worth consideration. I guess my point about the double jeopardy is that if they want to get you, they will, and somehow that seems wrong to me. They were probably afraid of another riot. And speaking of verdicts in that period, didn't they acquit the man whom we saw on video smashing Reginal Denny's head with a concrete block, then leaping with glee? The drug situation is also tricky. Although not really a libertarian, I can see their point of view on this and realize that the "war" on drugs may be futile. We certainly devote a lot of societal resources to the attempted inderdiction of drug importation, with generally poor results. I wonder how many dollars are spent on Coast Guard, radar tracking planes, etc.? I guess constitutional issues don't affect those of us in the more educated and affluent areas of society (except perhaps in the case of the IRS!) Anyway, remember: "A neoconservative is a liberal who has been mugged. And a neoliberal is a conservative who has been arrested." Thanks again... Jack
