Morning Kevin, glad to see you up and about! Retailers saying it isn't very good yet, Sears noted same over weekend... however, by what I hear over the grape vine, beverage sales are strong in New Jersey.
I'm late this year getting a tree, which is a tradition that my philosophical side still raises and eyebrow at.. dragging a suffering evergreen through the door, hanging ornaments on it, warehousing goods under it until some old guy in a red suit starts yelling ho-ho-ho...! In the back of my mind I wonder if reincarnation crosses the bark boundry? But its fun and the spirit of celebration is mostly equal to the commercial angst. What a humbug! Next year I'll go shopping in August or with OJ, he know's all the right places.
On the market, not too inspiring, looks like downside momentum with some flashes of cash flow support. Japan was de-banked overnight, moving towards support at 14,340. Haven't seen Europe yet.. assume its flat to flat. You know what? We should put aside this market watchfulness for a week or so and cheer in a great new year.
