You know what they say... Volume preceds price. It sure seems like that is what has been going on here. It seems like they would take the stock price up to get volume and then would bring it back down before the end of the day to continue to be able to buy at these prices ( I'm sure the same argument could be made from the shorting perspective - as in - they would "allow" the price to run and then short it down ). But by looking at the price in combination with the volume ( as in where it happens ) - My opinion is that it's the first scenario.
