Do you really think that the people who actually use their guns to attack and kill people will buy insurance.

As with most things, PORKER, you are just wrong. Ironically, most gun deaths are suicide. That is ironic because these days most people buy a gun for protection. If you aren't a suicide, you are more likely to be shot by a friend or family member than you are by a stranger. Most mass shootings are done with legally purchased firearms.

Now true, the gangbangers probably won't have insurance. But they aren't the majority of shooters. Not by a long shot. According to the UCR, only 44% of all murders are committed by someone other than a friend or family member n 2010.

fbi.gov

From table 12 The years are 2006-2010 For 2010, the total of murders in 2010 were 12,996

There are only a few categories, like robbery or burglary where the perp. is unlikely to have a legally acquired weapon. Others, like just plain old arguments, the weapons involved are usually legal and acquired for "protection". About 29% of the reported murders are in categories where the weapons used probably were not legally acquired. The rest were probably committed with weapons that were legal.
Reality is a bitch.
