If he was enlisting his help, maybe it was his help in getting Reagan to STOP the ridiculous military buildup that Reagan was perpetuating. If he was doing that then I wish he had succeeded so Reagan wouldn't have THROWN AWAY so much of our budgets on TOTALLY wasteful spending. The military became a big BLACKHOLE during the Reagan Administration and it continues to this day. The F-35 program alone has already cost more than $400 Billion and will probably cost around $2 Trillion by the time it ends. And we don't know if it will EVER be good in combat. Even to just know it will be fit for combat will probably cost another $300 Billion. That's the type of thing that Carter was trying to END. Instead of ending with Carter it just Expanded under Reagan.
