>> Straw man.
It isn't a straw man. By implication, you stated that anyone who wasn't "born gay" would not be gay unless they chose it. It is a logical question:
Are those in fact the only choices? Isn't is possible for someone to neither have been born gay nor choose to be gay?
I asked the question..........why would someone choose to be gay? Its a logical question because of how gays are perceived by a sizable minority in this country.
The question you pose in response makes no sense........ you suggest someone is born straight [not gay] and chooses not to be gay. Duh?! What is the point you are trying to prove?
Did you "choose" to be straight? When?
No. I was born straight. People sometimes become things without any underlying pathology. Straight, gay, happy, sad, rich, poor, arrogant, divisive, hateful, spiteful, nice, mean, jealous, hard-headed, just because. They weren't born that way. But they ended up that way. And they didn't choose it for themselves.
Being gay is something very different from being rich or hateful. Sexuality plays a huge role in our society and sits well above the emotions you mention in importance. |
