Like you, I also felt that Blue Chips offered more security and stability over aggressive growth. In addition many Blue Chips are considered Dividend Aristocrats, with long histories of increasing dividend payments.

So, at the beginning of April, I moved a substantial chunk of my IRA into individual Blue Chips selected to provide a diverse coverage of most sectors, with the exception of Energy.

Today, my performance of those selections is - 9.75% YTD. It would have been far worse if Energy stocks like XOM, CVX, were in the mix.

Its breathtaking to see just how fast and furiously they have declined. All I can do at this time is hang on, and hope that better times will arrive in due course. In the meantime, I have some small consolation in the dividend stream.

I recall the wise saying " you can run, but you can't hide ". In a global meltdown there are no safe harbors.
