Here are his comments. With this speech, Trump solidified his standing with a core constituency of the Republican party, and made headlines across the country. But his image and standing in the Latino community was devastated with them. The community seems to disagree that criminals and rapists (and some, presumably, who are good people) are what makes up their ranks.



Myself, I think most of the immigrants who come here are good, hard-working people. Many take low paying and very difficult, labor-intensive jobs like migrant farming or construction work. Calling these people criminals did not endear him to the community; in fact foreign media outlets widely condemned his remarks.

But don't get me wrong. I really and truly hope Trump wins the Republican nomination.
