9/11/15 Contest update
September is historically the most worrisome month for stocks. So judging by this short-week’s solid gains, as Eeyore would put it, the worst is yet to come.
At Friday’s close the Contest median was up 24.56% YTD (vs. up 19.33% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 16.97% YTD (vs. up 11.26% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index was up 24.68% YTD (vs. up 17.58% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 1.82% YTD (vs. up 1.10% YTD a week ago).
Riding a REPH rocket into triple-digit territory, DANIEL’S portfolio, up 105.37% YTD, widened its lead. MOPGCW’s portfolio, up 82.53% YTD, held on to second place and GUERL’s portfolio, up 62.83% YTD, barely beat out DEWDIL’s portfolio, up 62.55% YTD, for third place.
At the week’s close, 43 of the 51 Contest portfolios were in the green with 34 beating the NBI and 25 beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 18.11% and a median YTD gain of 1.41%.
