Hasn't been able to get a highway bill approved, but he's giving me a solar-powered government, which is close enuf for government work. He hasn't been able to get lots of things approved. You might not have noticed, cuz I've only told you 3 or 4 times in the last week, but for the first time in our history. one party decided on Day 1 that they would be against everything the president proposed. Historians will be giving him extra affirmative action points for compiling a pretty impressive list of positive accomplishments (or failures, if you are a partisan R) in the face of unprecedented total resistance.
Executive Order 13514 is an executive order titled Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance that U.S. President Barack Obama issued on October 5, 2009. [1] [2] EO 13514 was revoked by EO 13693, titled Planning for Federal Sustainability in the Next Decade, also issued by Obama March 19, 2015. [3]
This executive order mandates that at least 15 percent of existing federal buildings and leases meet Energy Efficiency Guiding Principles by 2015, and that annual progress be made toward 100 percent conformance of all federal buildings, with a goal of 100% of all new federal buildings achieving zero-net-energy by 2030. The U.S. government is the largest consumer of energy in America. It has roughly 500,000 buildings, and most of these buildings are energy-inefficient. Fifteen percent of 500,000 buildings is 75,000 buildings.

"you admit that your goal is power,"
My goal is a government that governs, and which addresses the problems besetting its people by doing things like passing highway bills. It doesn't bother me if people who were elected to not govern are shut out of the process. Why should I care if pols sponsored by the Koch Bros don't want a green military? Obama spent far too much time negotiating with himself, trying to win R support, before admitting to himself that there was nothing he could do to please them, except resign. i don't even know if that would work. They'd bitch that he picked Biden, they'd bitch cuz they don't have him to kick around anymore,...
"power in the right (or in your case, left) hands can lead to good things"
Power in the wrong hands can lead to good things (Nixon's EPA and Raygun's California Energy Commission), and power in the right hands can lead to bad things (Clinton's Glass-Segall and, pick one, Ike, JFK, or LBJ for Nam). |
