This is the core constituency of the Democrats, who vowed to oppose the "illegitimate" George W. Bush from day one. Even in 2001, Democrats did everything they could to block Bush's judicial nominees, something that even the Republicans didn't do when Obama took office.

Also the Democrats were front and center in killing off Bush's primary agenda, which was Social Security reform. Don't tell me that was because the Democrats was in a reconciliatory mood.

Finally, the history of obstructionism proves that what the Republicans did in 2009 and what the Democrats did in 2001 isn't "unprecedented":

In any case, these accusations of "unprecedented obstructionism" is just Tenchu's first rule of partisan politics in action.
