SB: See earlier comment in reply #25,195. Probably worried unecessarily, but see the choice between sacrificing a few shorts and saving a brokerage house (or brokerage industry) as a "no-brainer" for the authorities. The public sure wouldn't weep, in fact most would see it as appropriate "reward" for those evil bears who "caused" them to lose money in a crash. (g) Can't say as I would disagree with their point of view (big g), given the size of the losses that might be at hand. Best, Earlie
