I never had any doubt that Kameinei controlled Rouhani and I don't think anybody else did either. Iranian presidents get to be the Vocal and Visible leaders of Iran but they don't really carry any power. Just like the last guy that mouthed off a bit too much and has now completely disappeared from public view. But, it's the Military that allows the religious leaders and ALL the leaders to HAVE their power. If the military in Iran isn't happy with Khomeini he will just Die (of old age, of course) and a NEW Ayatolla will appear with the military's FULL support.
