9/18/15 Contest update The second Republican presidential candidate debate made it abundantly clear the demand for drugs, especially psychotropic medications, would continue to accelerate. So it’s not surprising biotechs outperformed the general market for the week. At Friday’s close the Contest median was up 30.51% YTD (vs. up 24.56% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 17.47% YTD (vs. up 16.97% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index was up 27.98% YTD (vs. up 24.68% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 1.93% YTD (vs. up 1.82% YTD a week ago). DANIEL’S portfolio, up 109.77% YTD, remained our Contest leader. MOPGCW’s portfolio, up 91.47% YTD and GUERL’s portfolio, up 75.60% YTD, held on to second and third place. At the week’s close, 45 of the 51 Contest portfolios were in the green with 38 beating the NBI and 29 beating the SPSIBI.
