Sounds like somebody has been 'hoodwinked'. I do notice the "does not include InterNIC fees" blurb in the body of their response. If one contacts the InterNIC directly ( internic.net ), a domain can be reserved for 2 years @ $100; $50 each year thereafter.

So I assume that TopDomain is charging $75 for the process of contacting the 'NIC. In other words, one could send an email to InterNIC and pay $100 to register, say, 'magneticdiary.com'. Or -- one could pay TopDomain $75 to send an email to the 'NIC to register and have the $100 added on top of that. WOW! FBN needs to get in on this type of operation.
