Naturally Splendid (NSP-V) Secures Distribution for NATERA(R) in the Lucrative Sports Nutrition Market
Sports nutrition is a multi-billion dollar business. In the U.S. alone, the sports nutrition market was estimated at $5.95 billion at the end of 2014, according to Euromonitor.
The U.S. accounts for almost 60% of the global sports nutrition market. Traditionally the sports nutrition market was restricted to bodybuilders and extreme athletes. However, lately there has been a shift. Euromonitor notes that while bodybuilders and extreme athletes still remain the core buyers, more mainstream consumers are also buying sports nutrition products.
The increasing interest of mainstream consumers has also led to manufacturers now paying more attention to them. Speaking to NutraIngredients-USA, Chris Schmidt, Consumer Health Analyst at Euromonitor, said that more and more retailers are committing shelf-space to sports nutrition, which is helping to introduce less sophisticated users to the category.
This morning, Canada-based Naturally Splendid Enterprises announced that it has secured a nationwide distribution for NATERA(R) in the sports nutrition market. NSP is a multifaceted biotechnology company focused on the development, commercialization and licensing of an entirely new generation of plant-derived, bioactive ingredients, nutrient-dense foods, and related products. The company is building an expanding portfolio of patents.
NSP today said that it has secured a new distribution relationship with Karma Nutritionals for NATERA. NATERA is an all-natural hemp product line.
The distribution agreement is significant since Karma is a premium distributor in Canada’s sports nutrition market for some of the industry’s cutting edge supplements such as PhD, Top Secret Nutrition and Skout Organic. The company has established relationships with more than 500 sport nutrition retail stores across Canada. Some of the retailers include Reflex, Fuel SVN, X Fuel and Active Body nutrition.
NSP said that NATERA will officially launch with Karma next month and will be marketed to sports nutrition retailers across Canada.
Craig Goodwin, CEO of Naturally Splendid, said that the company continues to see the customer profile base for the NATERA(R) products expand. Goodwin further said that the demographics for the company’s hemp-based products continue to grow as more and more consumers become acquainted with the benefits of plant-based ingredients and nutrition. He added that the products are not only great for the vegetarian and vegan market but also for all those seeking to improve their diet, performance and quality of life.
Looking at the stock price, it is clear to see that the stock has been volatile in 2015. Shares rallied at the beginning of the year only to start to head lower in April and since then have collapsed from around $1.00 to today’s price of $0.25. Shares look to currently be near a key support level, so perhaps this news could provide the spark the Company’s shares require to start a new uptrend.
