Bernie Sanders rips Donald Trump for refusing to rebuke Islamophobic questioner: "It's an outrage"
On “CBS This Morning,” Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders criticized GOP front-runner Donald Trump for refusing to challenge a questioner at a New Hampshire town hall who called President Barack Obama a Muslim and wondered “when can we get rid of [all Muslims].”

Instead of rebuking the man, Trump replied that “we’re going to be looking at a lot of different things, and a lot of people are saying that, and a lot of people are saying that bad things are happening out there. We’re going to be looking at that and plenty of other things.”

Sanders said “I think that’s a disgrace, to question once again whether the president of the United States was born in this country, or whether he is a Christian. I thought we were beyond that — it’s an outrage.”

“To continue this mythology and ugliness to suggest the president was not born in America — we all remember that Trump was one of the leaders of this a year ago. I thought he would have learned better than this.”

Sanders concluded by hoping that this is the last he’ll have to hear from Trump on this issue, but as Salon’s Heather Digby Parton pointed out, it’s more likely that Trump’s just beginning to stoke the fires of Islamophobia.
