I "voted" for Carter at my school's poll. Mainly because a friend convinced me to do so. Looking back I'm certainly glad that the candidate I "voted for" didn't win. OTOH I do think Carter is underestimated as a president. True that's largely because his reputation is so low that being underestimated is an easy hurdle to jump over, but he did some positive things in terms of deregulation. His policies in general where probably no worse, maybe better, then any other Democrat the could have won at the time.
