| | | Investors should concentrate more on making money and less on environmental issues. They are on the opposite ends of the spectrum. I couldn't disagree more. I'm responsible for how I invest my money. If I invest in a company that produces a questionable product or acts in a reprehensible way, I share in their misconduct. I always invest through a moral lens - money is not the highest good in my personal judgement.
All that being said, I own Teck and I have no problems with their conduct or their products. If I did, I would not use fossil fuels, steel, copper, etc. in my daily life. I do. I know where they come from and how they are produced. I'm okay with that. Like you, I see the Oil Sands as a resource to be utilized like any other, as long as it's being done in a responsible way. And it is, contrary to what some actors and actresses (who burn a heck of a lot of fuel themselves!) might opine. Once the mining in Alberta is done, those lands will be far better off than they were before. |
