That's a memory.
I can remember more about that than I can about what happened last week. ;)

And what a time. They had "booths" that lined the rink about 3 deep where you could change from shoes to skates. You could leave your jackets, purses or whatever other property you had and nobody would touch it. There were lockers, but nobody used them.

Our parents would drop us off around 6 and come back to pick us up around 10. No chaperons. And on that rare occasion that the rides got mixed up and nobody came, we'd walk the mile home at 10 p.m.

There were kids from rival schools but we were more interested in meeting new kids than any kind of rivalry.

You can't let a kid walk down a block alone at night now.

Halloween is coming up and we were allowed to go out and stay out as long as we wanted. My grandson still had his parents escorting him and his friends right up to the last year he went trick or treating.

Glad I got to experience what has to be the best years.
