Here's some recent news. Interesting thing, they appear to be taking over many routes in the Southeast. Maybe they'll move up the coast. Let me tell you, this is big stuff!

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Southwest Airlines Inc announced that it will
begin service from Jacksonville, Fla., on Jan. 15, 1997 with 14 nonstop daily flights to six cities:
Indianapolis, Baltimore/Washington, Nashville, Ft. Lauderdale, New Orleans and Tampa.

The airline will offer one daily nonstop flight from Jacksonville to Indianapolis, two to
Baltimore/Washington, three to Nashville, five to Ft. Lauderdale, one to New Orleans, and two to
Tampa.

"We have been so pleased with the response of Floridians to our other Florida service offered in
Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando, that we feel certain the good citizens of Jacksonville will
respond equally as favorably to our low fare service," said Dave Ridley, Southwest's vice president
of marketing and sales. "We know that they have been paying much higher fares than those offered
by Southwest, and everyone loves to save money."

An unrestricted fare of $149 one-way (offered on every seat, every flight, every day) will be
available between Jacksonville and Indianapolis. For those Customers who are able to make their
reservations and pay for their tickets in advance, one-way fares between the two cities will be as
low as $79.

The highest unrestricted fare from Jacksonville to Baltimore/Washington will be $149, to Nashville
will be $149 one-way, to Ft. Lauderdale will be $59 one-way, to New Orleans $99 one-way, and
to Tampa $59 one-way. For those Customers who are able to make their reservations and pay for
their tickets in advance, fares are available to each city at a greatly reduced price, with limited seats
available, advance purchase required, and are nonrefundable.

Before Southwest announced its upcoming service to Jacksonville, the other airlines were charging
as much as $376 for travel from Jacksonville to Indianapolis. Southwest's fare represents a $257 (or
68 percent) savings over the competition.

Southwest continually updates its service, making travel as fun and simple as possible for its
Customers. The airline's new innovative Ticketless Travel System allows Customers to use any
major credit card to experience the ease of traveling without a ticket. Southwest also is now
available for booking on its Home Gate on the Internet (see address listed below) and through
Sabre's Basic Booking Request, a product designed to make it faster and easier for travel agencies
to make reservations and print tickets for Customers.

In January, Southwest will have 27 daily nonstop flights out of Tampa to 11 destinations, 23 daily
nonstops out of Ft. Lauderdale to four destinations, and 26 daily nonstop flights out of Orlando to
12 destinations.

Southwest has earned the industry's annual Triple Crown for the last 4 years for top ontime
performance, baggage handling and Customer Satisfaction of all major airlines. No other airline has
achieved this record for even one month. The Triple Crown is based on systemwide ontime arrivals,
baggage handling and customer complaints, as published in Department of Transportation consumer
reports.

To make reservations on Southwest Airlines, call 1-800-I-FLY-SWA or your travel agent.

Fares listed do not include airport-assessed Passenger Facility Charges of $3 to $6 each way.
