Yes. Humans seem to naturally affiliate with groups and ideas that fill a certain need. Winners tend to admire and relate to winners and... well lets just say the AMD Fanboyz were naturally attracted to AMD.

The "Parts is Parts" and "It's Intel's fault" meme was spread from cult member to cult member in much the same way the "Hands up, don't shoot" meme was spread. Supposed eyewitnesses and people who were never actually there made up stories that were so appealing that it became reality for the cult when an in depth examination of the facts just didn't support the claims.

There will always be people who invent demons to explain away their problems. It's the human condition.
