ANANT, Got your point, but you are doing out of the money leaps
and while that can work out very profitably, when you are at the
money or especially out of the money the premium is way high.
The way I see it, Intel gave me the capital to do "in the money"
leaps on solid stocks and that is almost like buying the stock but
paying less. Most option players are speculating or hedging. I
am following the strategy common to the proponents of this thread
- buy and hold great companies like Intel. But to expand my
portfolio further from the 28 bagger I've gotten with Intel
warrants, I had to find other relatively-safe leverage vehicles,
at least short term. The expectations for Intel were (and are)
high, so the premium on Intel leaps were high even for deep in the
money positions. Since I couldn't get the same leverage with
Intel at the time, I went with Coke since KO and GE were getting
beaten up by the financial press and their stock price and
premiums were low. Once that KO elevator comes up enough, I
want to jump laterally on to more Intel or related tech because
that is the future, and the future is where the money is - plain
and simple. Haven't sold any Intel and don't intend to. I am
building my future positions in Intel, Iomega and related co.,
not KO.
