Thank you! It's been a tense summer for Hawaii with all the tropical systems passing by. There looks to be a couple more. The second one should impact the big Island early next week (Monday, Oct 5).

At the same time, the storms are gaining strength in the north Pacific. There is a lot of activity, and for Hawaii, this means residual upper-level troughs. These interaction with a tropical storm will enhance rain next week.

I hope the 2 systems don't mesh. It's sort of like Joaquin and the upper-level low over SE US. If the 2 would've merged, that would've been 2-3 feet of rain over Carolinas. They are not merging, so it's just 10'' of rain, instead. Phew.

I've only been to the Big Island. I'm amazed at the rain shield the two peaks provide. I enjoyed going from Kona to Hilo, such a stark difference. Ah the trade winds, so fresh.
