I think PTSD affects most people to one degree or another. It's hard to live this life without ever experiencing trauma. Most manage without it being debilitating. Soldiers not only have it from witnessing the horrors of battle, but some are also affected by deep guilt and shame for the things they've done to survive - things they would have never done or dreamt of doing in normal life. I think it's a factor in suicides at times. People just don't know to what extents they may go to to survive given the right situations.
