Don't be a schmuck.............you know what I meant.. Will doc's that don't accept Medicare patients accept Medicare for themselves when they reach the age??

So, you say that
Those non-Medicare docs don't accept under 65"s? Wonder what they'll do when they retire???
means

Will doc's that don't accept Medicare patients accept Medicare for themselves when they reach the age??
Hmmm. Had there been a "that" after "docs" I might have figured out what you meant. Well, at least I can follow your new version.

I would assume that doctors who don't accept Medicare patients will be covered by Medicare when they reach 65. Two considerations.

The first is that one has nothing to do with the other. Which business a businessman chooses to attract to his business is a separate matter from which health insurance the he selects for himself after he retires from that business. Or before, for that matter. He might have a policy with Aetna during his working years because the coverage suits his needs but not accept Aetna patients in his business because Aetna does not pay as much. Two different things.

The second is, as I have been saying all along, he will have no real choice but to accept Medicare given that the only other choice is to self insure, which makes Medicare pretty much a given. While doctors typically earn good livings, particularly doctors who are in a position to take a pass on Medicare patients, few doctors would earn enough in their careers to self-insure in their retirement. Maybe if they have family money or discover the cure for cancer....

The English translation for your original question would be: "I wonder what those non-Medicare docs who don't accept under 65's will do when they retire."
