You mean if Illinois and Chicago had a normal level of restriction on gun sales? (Its not like they are total illegal, at least not since the courts shot that down just restricted). I would think that it would contribute to a slight reduction in violent crime, but Chicago would still be one of the more violent big cities in the US. Its not like their overly restrictive gun laws are the only or overwhelming reason why they have more violent crime, its just one contributor to that problem.
