"anything as having "no alternative" in the long term... is always wrong"

False, Certain things are inevitable. Long term or short term no food results in starvation. Place an iron in the fire it gets hot. If you are born, there is no alternative your going to die. Stand naked outside long term at -60 degrees you will freeze to death. And you cannot produce food in the quantity required to feed to 11 billion people with 500 year old technology. It is technology and energy which has transformed the AZ and Calif. deserts into the North American bread baskets.

The penmanship you display. Appears to supersede your understanding of logic. Unless there is an alternative you are aware of. If so, and it is backed by research I would love to read it.

I suggest the environmental concerns of the day is not Oil , coal and other fossil fuels. But rather the amount of people on earth who cause them to be burned. The fuels have always been there. The task of feeding the massive expansion of mankind. Has led to their over use. Previous times before the technical age. Population was controlled during periods of famine. In the future there may come a time when females world wide might be restricted in the number of offspring they produce.

However that is off topic. The point I would like to make is Teck;s Ft Hills project will be ok because of the demand for energy. And when Teck achieves that income it will allow them to proceed with other projects like Galore and Shaft Creek which Teck will eventually develop.
