Freedom of speech isn't limited to the technology available when it was recognized by law, same for freedom of the press, you can use a state of the art printing press, or use something other then a printing press like a web site or a printer. Same with the 2nd amendment, it protects your right to state of the art firearms as well as antiques.

It also doesn't limit the recognition of the right to militias. Its not "the freedom of the militia shall not be infringed", its the freedom of the people shall not be infringed". That's not a right of state or local governments any more then the "the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petitition the Government for a redress of grievances" in the 1st amendment is, or The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated" in the fourth or "retained by the people" in the 9th.
