I don't disagree that it is too bad we are at that point. But realistically, it is to be expected.

The economy is collapsing, many of the idiots carrying weapons today are ghetto teens (not unusually, 15 or 16 year olds) and young 20s, and these are the people are are predominantly unemployed. This is not going to get better.

This morning at 4am in my small town a homeless man who many people in town knew, was gunned down a block from the sheriff's office. There could have been no reason for it; he had nothing to steal. He was not a drug addict, had a supportive family, etc. This poor man was in the wrong place at the wrong time. In a city, they'd arrest someone for it, here, who knows. But I'm sick of it and a lot of people are.

A lot of murders would be prevented if the idiots doing them understood that the clearance rate on murder, depending on locality, averages something like 70%. If they kill someone, or they're involved in a crime that results in someone dead, there is a 70% chance they're going to do some time. No one tells them this crap until it is too late.
