10/9/15 Contest update
The “drug prices are out-of-control” news cycle began to run out of steam by the end of the week, possibly to be replaced by Newt Gingrich’s comeback.

However, despite the reduced pressure on biotechs, they still lost some ground for the week.
At Friday’s close the Contest median was up 5.84% YTD (vs. up 8.26% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 1.64% YTD (vs. up 3.95% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index was up 4.23% YTD (vs. up 5.62% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 1.99% YTD (vs. down -.60% YTD a week ago).
MOPGCW’s portfolio, up 67.67% YTD, kept the Contest lead, with DANIEL’S portfolio, up 57.02% YTD, and DONS’ portfolio, up 43.40% YTD, holding on to second and third place.
At the week’s close, 37 of the 51 Contest portfolios were in the green with 35 beating the NBI and 29 beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks now have an average YTD gain of 2.04% and a median YTD loss of -7.41%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the week’s Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks. (I’ll resist punning to dump on EXAS. Oh, guess I did.)
(Foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None
(All corrections, especially adjustments for buyouts & splits, greatly appreciated.)
Have a relaxing Indigenous Peoples' Day weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
