Tom, The article in Fool made very negative comments in regard to CS and ASND, which they claimed to be players #4 and #5 in networking respectively. The street wisdom according to this article dictates to play first 3 players in the sector (like IBM,CPQ and DELL in PC group, or UAL DAL and AMR in airlines group). Agreed with you this might be too general, but it sounds quite correct nonetheless. The only argument against above I see that they incorrectly got in the group CSCO, BAY, COMS, CS and ASND, because their businesses are not very close match. BAY for instance has a sizeble cable modems division (former Lancity), while others in the group do not. ASND bought the leader in frame relay Cascade a while ago and only CSCO competes with them in this segment.
