Gold/Platinum Spreads and several other Longer Term Precious Metals charts.... very good point Rogue. Gold has outperformed Platinum on the Spread chart the past couple of year and has managed to ride the 50 day MA for 2015.... Looking at the 6 year Gold/Platinum spread we also have an overall uptrend.... as we look at the 35 year chart you can see that the spread has really been all over the place since 1980. Notice the major lows in the spread in 2000 and then In 2008. The Gold/Silver spread has been in rally mode the past 2 years.... and has been in a very major uptrend since March of 2011. When looking at the 45 year Gold/Silver spread you can see it has been all over the place. Most notable in the 45 year chart is the extreme low in 1980 as the Famous Hunt Brothers Silver corner... pushed Silver up towards $50 and ounce and the extreme high in the year 2000 when Warren Buffet was purchasing a huge stock of physical silver due to it have a $3 handle on it. We also have two 45 year charts on Palladium and Platinum..Notice the devastating total collapse of Palladium at the market bust in 2000. And a similar total collapse in Platinum in the 2009 Great Financial Crisis. JJP marketrealist.com
