10/16/15 Contest update To paraphrase Bernie on Hillary’s email tsuris at the Democratic presidential debate: “Biotech investors are sick and tired of hearing about those damn drug prices.” So, sticking their fingers in their ears, they stopped dumping their biotech shares and even did a bit of buying this week.. As a consequence of such “Valeant” contrariness, at Friday’s close the Contest median was up 8.48% YTD (vs. up 5.84% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 3.55% YTD (vs. up 1.64% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index was up 6.30% YTD (vs. up 4.23% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 3.18% YTD (vs. up 1.99% YTD a week ago). MOPGCW’s portfolio, up 62.32% YTD, held on to the Contest lead, with DANIEL’S portfolio, up 54.18% YTD and DONS’ portfolio, up 44.84% YTD, maintaining their grip on second and third place. At the week’s close, 37 of the 51 Contest portfolios were in the green with 35 beating the NBI and 28 beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks now have an average YTD gain of 2.75% and a median YTD loss of -7.60%. Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the week’s Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks. (Foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in these Tables.) Portfolio adjustments: None (All corrections, especially adjustments for buyouts & splits, greatly appreciated.) Have a safe & fun fall weekend biotechies! Peace & good health, Bulba
