EC, I believe that the salt aspect of your recommendations must be tempered by degree of exercise and perspiration a person may be experiencing in a day. Runners, or workers in the heat of summer, or the tropics tend to excrete large amounts of electrolytes. Not replenishing them can lead to an exercise 'bonk', or for workers, create listlessness until they can replenish their sodium levels. If you are up there in the GWN i can see were heavily salted foods would catch up with you, and cause ill effects. As for myself, I tend to take electrolyte caps every day, salt some foods, and take something salty with me when I run or do work on the farm. But, in either case, I come home drenched in sweat, and I wouldn't recommend the levels of intake I resort to to most other people.
