I don't think he ignored it. But he is a highly logical individual and, as is the case with most of the comments he has been run through the mill over, he drew the conclusion logically rather than emotionally.

And these are hard situations. I was once in an apartment with 5 other people where a drunken fellow came in the door with an automatic rifle and demanded we all leave with him. It happened quickly, but the three guys were all sitting there looking at each other trying to figure out what to do when one of the girls heroically got up and took the rifle away from him.

One of my friends there had just returned from Vietnam and probably wasn't fearful of the situation, but we were all trying scope out the situation and figure out how to react and she just did it. By herself. And it was over before we could get out of our chairs.

People like her are survivors. They react immediately and make the right choices. About one in ten have that ability. Most of us will pause and think and ponder the outcomes, and many (~30%) are too gripped by fear to do anything. But the 10% will react. Even my friend who was battled hardened had to think about the about the situation.

I suspect Carson may be one of the 10%.
