With so many channels and ways to watch video the concept that "content is king" became popular in the entertainment industry, but I doubt industry people had this in mind.

We were eating dinner tonight at a restaurant named Marmalade outdoors at The Grove. Two women, both age 35 minimum but likely 10 years or more older, sat two tables from us doing a broadcast with LED lights attached to their cell phone sitting on a tripod. One of the women was holding a three page script which including comments from viewers of their prior show while the other woman was constantly typing on her smartphone plugged into the other, glancing down briefly to control the zoom and editing features, such as rolling short previously recorded segments. Both women talking non-stop as you'd see on any women's talk show like "The View".

Maybe this is a new thing I've missed but we've never seen this sort of bizarre behavior outside of Los Angeles. Waving-off the waiter while taking an occasional sip of their coffees while smiling for their iPhone camera during their half-hour broadcast. On the conclusion of their 30 minute broadcast they congratulated each other on how successful tonight's show was while they finally ordered dinner while taking off their lapel mikes and putting their video equipment away in a Chanel bag.

I admit I made movies with my friends when we were age 12 and 13, and I'm used the the people posting photos of their meal to Yelp, but this is a whole new level of self-obsession.

It all made the arrival of 60 year old man wearing a black leather motorcycle jacket and cap with a black wool pleated skirt, which matched the one his wife was wearing, seem absolutely normal for Southern California.
