Xenotech Heralds New 3D Movie Era
PERTH, Australia, Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Xenotech Inc. (Alberta: XEN - news) has signed an agreement with Imagica
Corporation of Japan and its Imagica USA Inc. subsidiary to combine their technologies and expertise in a process to convert 2D
films/videos into 3D stereoscopic films/videos.
The Xenotech agreement with IMAGICA Corp. aims to provide a commercial 2D to 3D conversion service for movie and video
producers in Japan and the USA for standard 35mm and large format 70mm films in the full range from 5 perf, 8 perf and 15 perf
(aka IMAX) films.
This has great significance for the film and entertainment industry in both original production as well as enabling popular existing
35mm and 70mm 2D movies to be re-released as 3D blockbuster extravaganzas.
President and CEO of Xenotech Inc., Robert Baker, sees a big future for 3D as the public's appetite for unique entertainment
experiences is whetted by the new technology.
''Production of movies in 3D is a complex process requiring large, expensive cameras and specialized technology. Rather than using
this expensive process exclusively, Xenotech/IMAGICA Corp.'s conversion service will allow significant portions of new films to be
shot in 2D and then converted into 3D. This will provide substantial cost and time savings to movie and video producers.''

The Xenotech agreement with Imagica expects to provide a commercial 2D to 3D conversion service for movie and video
producers in Japan and the USA.
Imagica USA Director Chris Reyna, who is also President of the Large Format Cinema Association, shares the vision of an
increased demand for 3D movies as well as 3D attractions in theme parks and museums. He sees a distinct US market demand to
convert large format film for distributors that exhibit their films with hardware giants like Iwerks Entertainment and IMAX
Corporation.
For more than 60 years Imagica has operated in the areas of film production, film processing, post production, film opticals, telecine
and digital film compositing services in Japan. IMAGICA Corp. is also involved in digital video post production, digital scanning
products, animation and production of large format films with multi-format optical effects.
IMAGICA USA has strongly contributed to the optical and digital visual effects arena for 70mm large format films for the past five
years from their base in Los Angeles, California.
As well as providing 3D material for cinemas and theme parks, Xenotech is continuing to develop 3D technology that will allow the
transmission of the converted material over standard and existing broadcasting facilities into home televisions. International patent
applications have been filed for these technologies.
