Please explain why anyone would look "silly" after posting a comment about a comment. Not some cosmic truth, not even the majority view -- just one person's editorial opinion.
"Finally — we got our country back."
Is this illogical irony, applied with a trowel, supposed to shock Canadians into some painful realization? Is that the point?
"The fact that many Canadians are exploring political alternatives causes gnashing of teeth and wailing, as if those who don't vote Regressive Conservative are mentally deficient. Here conservatives speak intolerantly of other Canadians -- who they see at hockey games, at work, in supermarkets and on the street -- as if they don't deserve to exist. Lesser beings. In fact they're the same kind of people as you, equal in all respects. Just as wealthy, just as poor, just as hard-working. They hold different opinions, and they may well be right: on ecology, wealth distribution and economics, and therefore, on Canadian politics. Conservatives are not superior to other Canadians. They're not more right, more moral, more entitled, more advanced, more enlightened. Not in any way.
If change comes, it will be caused -- and welcomed -- by many."
~~~ The fact -- not an editorial opinion -- is that many Canadians were frightened about changes they viewed as destructive of Canadian history, statistics, science and ultimately, democratic process. Vanishing Canada: Why we’re all losers in Ottawa’s war on data — Records deleted, burned and tossed in dumpsters. Millions of dollars and decades of accumulated knowledge and data wasted. Destroyed.
~~~ I'm not disputing your right to post an opinion. Fine. But not everyone supports your belief that some scribe's post-election sour grapes justify warnings about comments, as if the words, somehow, were sacred and wise.
Just as the people that supported and executed this policy were Canadians,.so are the people that opposed it. And just like Regressive Conservatives that don't want others to be informed or to speak, you don't want people to comment.
Sorry, no can do. It's a bullshit editorial about a very real majority concern.
