True, Clinton reformed welfare, placing limits on it. He put the Kyoto treaty on the shelf and didn't even submit it to the Senate. He didn't put Carter's solar panels back on the WH or resurrect any of Carter's loopy energy ideas. Gave oil companies royalty relief for drilling in deep Gulf of MX waters. He tried to nationalize health care but gave up on it. Gave us the Defense of Marriage Act. Worked with Republicans to control spending. Bombed Saddam several times throughout his Presidency ( in 93, 96, and 98) and made Iraqi regime change a goal of the US. Invented the policy of rendition of terrorists to nations who would torture them for us (at Gore's urging btw - "they're terrorists, grab their ass" he told Clinton). After Clinton left office, he supported W's invasion of Iraq. Signed into law measures that expanded the death penalty, promoted longer prison terms, funded the construction of new prisons, eliminated inmate amenities, barred felons from living in public housing, and discouraged judicial discretion.

IOW he was far less liberal than Obama (he basically pissed on liberal's causes) but Democrats revere him because of his blowjobs, perjury, and subornation of perjury. They deeply admire BECAUSE of his character flaws.
