That's nothing like China is doing to coral atolls in the south China sea. Pumping in sand on top of reefs to create islands. Kills the entire top reef system and deep corals too. Then most of the associated marine life.
You mentioned coral bleaching. Again. Nothing like filling a reef in with sand.
